Citizens' welfare top priority

MANAMA: His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday affirmed that the government's initiatives to develop vital facilities are being speeded up to serve citizens' welfare. Batelco announces $152.8m dividend

MANAMA: The Batelco Group yesterday announced a full-year cash dividend of BD57.6 million ($152.8m) for its shareholders. This represents a 72 per cent payout at a value of 40 fils per share, company chairman Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla Al Khalifa said during the group's 31st Annual General Meeting (AGM) at its Hamala headquarters.

BAHRAIN revived their hopes of earning a place at the 2012 London Olympic Games after a 2-1 home victory over Syria in the third round of the Asian qualifiers. In the penultimate match in Group 'C', held at the National Stadium in Riffa, Mohammed Al Tayeb fired both goals for the hosts in the 11th and 89th minute, between which Ahmed Al Douni levelled the tie on 86 minutes.
